Whoa! I must say that is one of the creepiest things I’ve heard. Not to mention it puts a whole new spin on those days when I used to play that game.
I’ve gotta say I adore all your work, each with it’s own flavor of creepy but this takes the cake in a sending chills down your spine, I refuse to listen to this in the dark sort of way.
I forgot it was Sixcast night!
It’s 2 am, I’m having trouble sleeping, and I just played this.
Welp, I’d better just start my morning right with some coffee I think…
A little long in the narration I think, but well worth it. Thanks Katy!
Bloody Mary… isn’t that the game where you spin in front of a mirror and close your eyes in the dark, in the hopes of seeing her looking back at you? How dementedly evil, bringing up my phobia of mirrors in the dark…
Right, just listened to that now I have to do three things. One destroy all the mirrors in my house bringing how ever many years of bad luck on myself, I don’t care it has to be done. Two, turn all the lights in the house onto full even if it’s 9:30am. Three, never sleep again.
Katy I have to say this is the best one you have ever done, honestly. Normally your 6casts will put me on edge a bit but thats about it, this one has got me spooked, I don’t wanna go anywhere in the house where there is a mirror. so Katy, bravo.
Wow…I’m a bit new to your site Ms. Towell, but I have to say out of all your SixCasts, that was by far the creepiest thing I’ve heard. I’m a hard to scare person, but that truly made my spine tingle. I’ll never sleep again…
It is daylight still, the windows are open. It’s very bright in my room. And I am crying, I’m so terrified. Two of the walls are covered in top to bottom mirrors. And there is another hanging above the computer. If I stand up a mirror. If I turn, a mirror. If I turn the other way, the door, safety. and a mirror. I tried to play that game once. But When i turned off the lights, I saw something. I swear to this day, There was a face in my morror. I had only said the name twice. Why must you be so brilliant?
great work once again! the voice was just right. I’m still shivering just thinking about it. I can’t wait til next week. oh yeah, I’ve also watched the Childrin R Skary animations. keep up the good work!
*shivers… I’m turning the mirror in my room around… and never playing it again.. then again.. i couldn’t even say bloody Mary into the mirror more than 12 time.. let alone 101 times… *shivers with fear* you should do three blind mice.. only.. set in a kindergarten class… *giggles*
Geeze, I tried to listen to it again, and I couldn’t. I couldn’t. It takes a lot for me to not have the will to do something. I got a few seconds in, and I had to turn it off. I haven’t had that reaction to something since I was a little child. If I ever needed to be scared out of my skull, You’d be the one I’d contact. Gah, all my hairs are STILL sticking up.
I’m kind of new to the site, so this was the first 6cast I listened to.
My closet has two full length mirrors, one on each door. When we first moved to this house the creeped me out a lot. Now I am going to have to cover them with sheets for the rest of my stay in this house. I am never listening to this one alone ever again…
Well, maybe once more, just for the hell of it. Wonderful job with the audio! Wish me luck in sleeping tonight.
A study was undertaken where, I believe, it was proven that if you sit in a dimly lit room and stare at a mirror long enough, (possibly a not entirely clean mirror too, I don’t remember the details) there’s a good chance you’ll start to see shapes and figures. If you’re already expecting a face to appear, then the chances are better.
Just so you know, I already wasn’t going to be able to sleep, but, um, now I don’t think I’ll be able to look at a reflection in a window or my danged monitor, let alone mirror.
meep….i listened to this a while ago and couldn’t remember what it was, and as i was reading the comments i wanted to listen to it again just to remember … i shall not sleep for a week me thinks…between you and H.P. Lovecraft i’d say a week at least..more like two or three XD
I literally couldn’t sleep with the lights on after listening to this! My family are direct descendants of Mary the First and Mary Queen of Scots on mom and dad’s side! Kudos to you for such a wondefully terrifying story using only that incredible rendition of her story! Great job!
Oh my ; I’ve heard this out of folks story ; It was so scary .
Though i’ve never tried the game before , it’s just so scary imagining it .
Great job Katy Towell ; will be looking forward to new stories ((;
Wow, that was brilliant. I had to listen to it a second time to understand what was being said, but even before I could fully hear what was coming out, it scared me. The way that the voice was sounded and how you could hear her heavy breathing and weezing was chilling.
Watching Supernatural’s Bloody Mary episode was enough that I’m scared to even look at a mirror in case I even THINK her name.
She scares the hell out of me!
And this was brilliantly done it just brought up my fear of her and darn it I have to go to bed and tomorrow is Friday the 13th…
*considers throwing away my mirror
omg that was so scary! i still have chills. kind of like when i watched part of The Ring. well, maybe not as scary as that. The Ring gave me nightmares for a week afterwards! wow. it’s amazing how you can write something so scary! i love it!
I think this is a very real problem and I am glad to see that Harvard is covering it. I think images are the biggest threat, especially on social media sites like Facebook. It’s an even bigger problem now if Facebook profiles have become searchable in Google…oooch
omg i had to research that game as we dont have it in england, and it is soo scary (but i was even more freaked by never woke up, that is just tops!). what made it worse was i called out to my mum to watch it too and my voice sounded like hers!! (sore throat) :S
I admire the valuable information you offer in your articles. I’m very excited and longing for your next article. Hopefully I will get it this week. Really value this post especially. It’s hard to separate the very good from the bad these days, but I believe you’ve pushed the right key! Is it possible to write a guest articles here? I would like to write a one or two articles here.
I only found out about 6cast last week and was so hooked that I listened to them all in a row on the same night. This one has to be my fave though. I played the bloody mary game when I was younger and since listening to your take on it I haven’t been able to go anywhere near mirrors at night. x
excellent article about, however! i do not strive to be so negative however i think your web site would look better if you would have a bit of gray on it No…, you don’t have to agree… this is only my simple opinion. Thanks to the good article anyhow! =) All the best, resor till bulgarien
I simply desire to say your article is surprising. The clarity in your post is just great and I could assume you are an expert on this subject it seems. Well allow me subscribe to your feed to keep up to date with forthcoming posts. Thanks and please continue the rewarding work.
You realize I became trying to find internet websites as well as articles or blog posts on this. Would make everyone really feel a lttle bit guilty but then ( blank ) what is a dude likely to perform if your problem happens ?
